It's All About Coffee Today

One of this week's prompts is COFFEE.  Coffee is a must for me in the morning. I love to start my day off sloooow with a mug...or 2.  Everyone pretty much leaves me alone until I have had my coffee.

For this challenge, I created a card as inspiration for the group and a tag for the Tag A Day Challenge :

I pulled out some retired Stampin' Up coffee themed paper and the matching stamps sets.  I cut a piece of the designer paper with the coffee cup marks to 5.25x4 inches and mounted it on a slightly bigger piece of Soft Suede coloured paper. I then pulled out the large ribbon and cut a matt to frame it.  I assembled all these pieces as shown and mounted them on a standard white card base.

I stamped out the cups and main saying using Early Espresso ink and cut them out using the matching dies. I decorated the cups by adding the tops, the little hole stoppers, and the sleeve.  The second looked a little boring so I used a saying (KK Ruby Red ink) from the stamp and dies to create the little tag too.  The cups were really white so I distressed them with some of the ink and then mounted using pop dots.  I added a few dots from Kraftin Kimmie that coordinated beautifully with the other red items on the page.

I decided that I would continue with the coffee theme for the tag as well. I used more paper from the same set and cut out a tag which I mounted on a white tag to give it strength. I then stamped the lid, sugar cubes, sentiment and coffee beans in Early Espresso and used the die set to cut everything out.  Then I assembled and added to the tag.  A ribbon finished it off!

Kraftin' Kimmie Weekly Christmas Challenge

This week's prompt for the Christmas Challenge is to make a slimline card.  This is a card that is 8.5 x 3.5.  I really wanted to try out some new dies and to see if I could replicate a moon colouring that I had seen on the Lavinia YouTube channel.

I created a white card base and then used slimline dies to create the black frame as well as a white piece to do the main work on.  Using a Lavinia Stamps YouTube video, I created the moon and night sky.  I cut out the snow, mountains and trees from a dies set and mounted them on the base.

The sentiment and Santa are from the stamp set Christmas Cheer from Kraftin' Kimmie and were stamped with black Memento ink.  I used my Stampin' Up platform as I needed to stamp a few times to get a nice crisp image.   I originally had the saying "If you don't believe, you won't receive" but my hubby didn't like it so I stamped a new sentiment, coloured the paper to match the sky and  mounted with pop dots.

I then watered down some white acrylic paint and splattered on the card to make it look like snow. This is a skill I am still trying to master.  The sky and moon were created using Tim Holtz Distress Inks - scattered straw, mermaid lagoon, chipped sapphire and seedless preserves.

I will need to continue to try these techniques to master them but they were fun to try.

Day 13 November Tag A Day Challenge

I decided to colour up another one of the tags in my stash.  When I use my Pencils, the Colour Of The Week samples from Kit and Clowder are always out to give me inspiration and ideas on what pencils to put together.  This tag was done using the Cochineal (cone), Vermilion (poinsettia)  and Carmine (berries) colours from Alyce's blends.  You can check out the blends here.  While you are there check out the other awesome free classes and colour samples offered by Alyce. Alyce is an incredible teacher for both pencils and marker colouring. The rest of the items on the tag were coloured using 2 pencil combos that I came up with by playing on a scrap piece of paper.

Pointsettia (vermilion): white, pale vermilion, permanent red, crimson lake

Needles: dark green, lime peel

Berries (carmine): scarlet red, crimson lake, tuscan red

Acorn:  dark brouwn, chocolate, light umber

Pine cone (cochineal) : burnt ochre, terracotta, tuscan red

Saturday Crafting - Lisa Horton Stencil Class, Day 12 Tag

I spent a few hours today creating 3 beautiful cards in a class lead by Lisa Horton.  We used a kit containing layered stencils, a die and a 3D embossing folder to create these cards.  The 2 colourful flower cards are 5x7 and were inked with Distress Oxide inks while the black (6x6) was highlighted using a gold Gelatos stick that has been in my stash forever.

Day 12 tag for There's A Stamp for That November Tag Challenge was coloured using my Prisma pencil crayons.  It felt great to get them out.

More tags, A Thank You Gift Bag and a KK Challenge card

I have been busy in my craft room this week. The tag challenge continues with some fun new tags, I created a simple gift bag and participated in a Kraftin' Kimmie challenge

On the 9th, I continued to use my Tag kit from Papertrey Ink and used the stencils in the kit. It is fun to decorate your own with this kit.

On the 10th, I created a diamond shaped wreath card.  I used some old Art Impressions leaves and florals for this one and created the wreath using a wreath builder template I found online (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KL0cHEkZvP8).  It was fun to try. I can see myself making more of these in the  future!

On the 11th, to celebrate Remembrance Day, I used a retired Stampin' Up stamp of poppies to make a Remembrance Day tag.  I kept it simple as the message is the key.

For the monthly challenge at There's A Stamp for That, I created a gift bag that I will fill with cards and gift to a special person.  I like this idea and will be making a few more.

Finally, I participated in the weekly KK challenge where we had a make a square card.  I really wanted to play with these elves!  This is not my usual colour combo and it was challenging for me to go with the pink.

TASFT November Tag A Day Challenge

Danni created a fun challenge for us to create a tag a day. I loved this idea and decided to participate but life (and Cricut weekend) got in the way and I fell behind pretty quick! I spent time Monday and Tuesday getting caught up!   Here are my tags for the first 8 days of November:

Going from left top down and then over each row and down:
Day 1: kittie tag for my cat loving Great Nephew (using Kraftin' Kimmie stamps. Love the saying on this one!)
Day 2: gear tag for hubby’s upcoming birthday
Day 3: Christmas flower tag 1 using the Spellbinders kit from a class I took a few weeks ago
Day 4: Christmas flower tag 2
Day 5: Angel - from Jennifer Maker weekend
Day 6: Birthday tag using one of the colourful circles that I created for a card for a previous TASFT challenge
Day 7: Winnie the Pooh tag - this is my favourite. I loved colouring him with my Copics and creating the background with distress oxide inks.
Day 8: Papertrey Ink tag kit I have had since 2017! I decided this challenge was a great way to get using some kits from this company that have been sitting in my craft room for way too long. You will see a few more from this kit in the next few days!

Which  one is your favourite?

The Weekend in Review

I can't believe it is Wednesday! I am a bit behind on posting my creations as it was a busy weekend.  Jennifer Maker held a weekend event for Cricut users and I participated so I could learn how to use my machine.  I had fun playing with the cut files she shared and learning to resize and use different materials.  I was able to get a few projects done.

Angel:  This gal is not tiny! She stands over 7 inches tall and has 8 layers of paper.  She has a set of fairy lights inside that light up and she glows.  I can't wait to put her on the mantle for this upcoming Christmas season.

This cookie box was originally supposed to be BIG and use large pieces of paper which I do not have and since I have a stupid amount of scrapbooking paper, I decided to try and resize.  I will say I learned a lot but am sure there is an easier way to do it!

Next I made a tealight holder.  This was a quick make after the angel and the box. I really liked to pattern and the "scraps" left on my cutting mat so while watching another video I painstakingly picked the pieces off the mat and glued them to card fronts.  I will make them into cards this week.

I cut out and put together this card next.  I have to come up with a way to make the window and door stay closed as I do not like it open.  This card is 5x7 which is larger than I prefer so maybe this is another opportunity to learn to shrink a design!

I then made 1/2 an angel in a smaller side to create a Christmas tag as part of the There's A Stamp for That  Tag A Day November event (see next post).  I think she turned out pretty cute.

It was great to see just what this machine can do! There are many more projects that were taught on the weekend that I would like to do in the near future.

Monthly TASFT Challenge - Thanks/Thankful/Thanksgiving

I am enjoying the challenges posted in the There's A Stamp for That Facebook group and am using them as an opportunity to go through my stamps and decide what I want to keep and use of put in the purge bin! The verdict on this one is still out. I think I will need to play a bit more to see if I want to keep it or not.  Its size lends to fast and easy cards since it takes up the majority of the card front! To make the different I used background papers and different card frames.
