Wishing you a Colourful Day! - TASFT Challenge #49

Today I am posting to the There's A Stamp For That FB group for Challenge #49 for bright colours.  I am continuing on my personal goal to try out my dies so this time I pulled out this rainbow making circle die.  I cut out one in each of the colours and then mixed and matched to make the rainbow here.  I then added a frame over it and mounted it on a colourful background paper from my Stampin' Up stash.  I stamped the sentiment which included the FRIEND as well and mounted on the card.  I finished off with some colourful dots to coordinate with the circle!

Saturday in the Craft Room

I had a great time attending a virtual card class hosted by Spellbinders.  We created the following 3 cards using a custom set of dies and stamps made for the group who attended.   I love how they used a shaped diecut to create the base for this first card:

The next card used minimal colours to create a beautiful card.  The background was lightly inked to make the embossing pop:

The last card was a WOW card! There is a lot happening on this one.  It was fun but I think I will stick to 1 easel cards most of the time.

This one deserves a side view! The background is bigger because this one is so big it doesn't fit in my photo tent!

There's A Stamp for That Bi-weekly Challenge #49

Today's card is for the bi-weekly challenge in the There's A Stamp for That Facebook group.  I was working on the never ending catalog of my stamps this morning and came across a set with the perfect sentiment for this challenge!  I then hit up Pinterest to check out ideas for this set.  I came across a post that I really wanted to do so I decided to CASE it (Copy and Share Everything).  The original is by Linda Dalke and you can see her card here.

I used Shimmery White cardstock as Linda recommended and used holographic clear embossing powder on the Stampin Up Winter Woods stamp.  After I embossed I used Distress Oxide inks to do the background (faded jeans and blueprint sketch). I waited a bit for the ink to dry and then wiped it off the trees. I created the snow hill with the Stampin Up Sleigh Ride die set and stamped the sentiment with blueprint sketch.  I finished it off with a few dot embellishments in the corner and used a Posca pen to add some gentle snow in the sky.

Update:

Ok, I have to admit that the sentiment is not straight and was driving me crazy. I restamped on a scrap and then proceeded to try and cover the crooked one.   I tried dies, cutting a shape with my ScanNCut and finally resorted to just cutting a triangle with my trimmer and then matting to match the pic.  it took me longer to fix the sentiment than it did to make the card.  Ok, I can now live with this!

Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge #655 - Inspired by a Movie or Song!

Do you want to build a snowman?

This has been going through my head all day since I saw this challenge! I only know this 1 line from the song. I even loaded it up on Spotify while working on the card to try and get it out of my head and instead I then had "Do you want to build a snowman? Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na" going through my head!

It was fun to create though!  Once I had decided on the stamp to use, I chose the background paper and then pulled out my Copics to match the colours.  The background is embossed using the Kraftin' Kimmie Sweet Snowflakes stencils and then Ocean Opulence ink was blended over to give some contrast and make the snowflakes pop.  Once everything was mounted on the card, I added some stickles around the snowballs and snowman and on the background.

Stamps Used: Kraftin' Kimmie Snow Buddies
Stencil: Sweet Snowflakes
Ink: Ocean Opulence
Copics Used:  scarves, hat and mitts: RV29, RV25, RV23, RV21, BG18, BG13
                       pup: E19, E18, E17
snowman and snowballs : BG0000, BG000 (and a little R21 for the cheeks!)

Weekly KK Christmas Challenge: Lights

The Christmas Challenge topic this week is lights but I did Christmas lights on my tree card last week and I wanted to do something different.  So keeping with the theme of trying new things, I tried to colour the Northern Lights.  I used my Prismacolor Pencils for this one and loosely followed a Youtube video that showed how to do this.  It was fun as I got to choose my own colours and play a bit.  it has been a while since I had my pencils out.  I think I laid down the yellow in the water too thick and so I couldn't get more blue to lay on the paper.  Next time I will go lighter with my first layer. I am debating if I should move the sentiment to the inside too.

Stamps Used:
Kraftin' Kimmie Perky Penguins and Holiday Village for the sentiment

Pencils Used:
sky and water : copenhagen blue, non-photo blue, canary yellow, kelly green
mountains: same as sky plus black
penguins and ice: cool grey 90%, 70%, 50% and 30%, yellowed orange, orange and canary yellow

Trying new things!

The use of embroidery on cards has interested me for a while so I decided to try it out by taking a virtual Christmas card class with Liette from Glitter and Ink.  We created the first card with Spellbinders dies and embossing folder. The flowers and “greenery” are made for white, vellum and an iridescent paper.   I love how the red frame and sentiment are a wonderful contrast to the white embellishments.

Next, we learned how to embroider the JOY card. We used embroidery floss for the leaves and larger flowers while the smaller flowers were done with thread. I finished this one up after class and am now working on the blue one you see in the background.  I enjoyed doing them and you may see another some time in the future!

There's A Stamp for That Day!

Today is my day to share on the FB group "There's A Stamp for That" to offer some inspiration to team members.  The theme is any one of the following:

1. Halloween

2. sparkly

3. A card using the posted Mojo Monday sketch

I decided to challenge myself to do all of them together! I figured I had already done a Halloween project so let's do another.

I created the following card using Halloween paper from my stash for the sketch and then added the cute monster and balloon from the Kraftin' Kimmie Mini Monsters stamp set and coloured them up with my Copics.  I then took a glue pen and traced the spider web and added black glitter to add the sparkle. I added a journal insert with a sentiment on the inside. What do you think? Feel free to leave a comment below!

Kraftin' Kimmie World Cardmaking Day Challenge #3 Submission

I finished up my submission for Challenge #3 for World Cardmaking Day.  I ended up doing something totally different for me.  I was inspired by all the Halloween entries into the challenges in the Facebook group  "There is a Stamp for That". I decided to try my hand at a Halloween project for this challenge.

I used the Kraftin' Kimmie spider web stencil and purple glitter paste on black cardstock to make the base.  This paste is really thick and really sparkly! Then I dug through my stash of dies and found a spider to cut out of sparkly black paper.  The sentiment is from an old retired KK stamp set. It is so old that it actually is grey rubber with no backing! I had to cut the sentiment out of the rubber and add foam to it to use. Turns out the set is really cute and I may just have to prep the other stamps in it for use!  I will use this for a treat for my youngest - I think it is appropriately scary enough for him.

Participating in Kraftin' Kimmie Challenges

For a few months I have been missing my crafting mojo. I am finally getting back into the mood of crafting thanks to a few craft events in September and the challenges run by Kraftin' Kimmie (KK).  Here are the challenge submissions I have done so far for the International Scrapbook Day events at KK. I have 1 more left to go along with the weekly challenges so stay tuned for them.

Challenge 1 is a Birthday or Anniversary card.  I decided to create a card for my hubby for our upcoming anniversary and challenged myself to use my supplies.  Why keep heart paper just for Valentine's day?! My DH is into puns so I think he will like this one! Inside it says "Love Ewe!".

Challenge 2 is Autumn/Halloween.  I have to admit that I am not a big Halloween craft maker BUT autumn - now that I can get into! I have to say I think this is my favourite of the challenge cards this round.  I started by using Decofoil gel through the Falling Leaves stencil and let it sit overnight to cure.  I made sure I threw my stencil right into water and soap so the gel didn't mess up my stencil.  The next day I used gilding flakes (in my stash but never used until now!) and rubbed over the hardened gel.  The leaves are so pretty in person!   Then I used a Spellbinder die to make the sign, basket, pumpkins and paper leaves and edged them all with ink so they looked weathered.  The squirrels are from the KK Squirrel Friends! stamp set and coloured up with Copic markers. This was a fun card to create!

Challenge 3 is Make it Sparkly which I will be working on today. Stay tuned!

Challenge 4 is Stencil Fun! I was playing with some pastes this past weekend and when I tried this one out I had to use it with the Snowflake stencil.  It is so pretty! It was a quick card to make - stencil on the Glacier Paste and let it dry, stamp a sentiment and then mount both onto blue cardstock and add to a card front. I then added a few sparkly dots beside the sentiment. Simple but beautiful!
